Liu Zhen Sin
Erhu
Liu Zhen Sin began learning the Erhu when he joined Keming Primary School Chinese Orchestra at 7 years old. Currently, he is under the tutelage of Mr Neo Yong Soon Wilson, a Zhonghu musician from the Singapore Chinese Orchestra.
Zhen Sin has accumulated a wealth of experience performing in orchestras. He has been part of and performed with several Chinese Orchestras since young. He has also worked with different conductors, from various schools and community centres’ Chinese Orchestras. Notably, he was the concert master of Bukit Batok Chinese Orchestra, conducted by Mr Chew Keng How. Zhen Sin now plays a significant role as a Huqin player in Cheng San Chinese Orchestra. He has been part of many successful concerts, and even performed an Erhu concerto - Qiao's Grand Courtyard (3rd movement) - Love.
In 2019, Zhen Sin achieved the NAFA Erhu Performance Grade 9, awarded by the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. He actively participates in national competitions organised by the Singapore Chinese Orchestra and is enthusiastic about improving his Erhu skills.
In 2023, Zhen Sin staged “Amannisha”, a highly challenging Erhu concerto written by composer Wang Dan Hong, accompanied by Cheng San Chinese Orchestra during the orchestra’s annual gala concert, in conjunction with Singapore Chinese Music Festival 2023. His performance of the Erhu concerto has received great review from fellow audiences.
