Best and Most Beautiful Erhus by Xu Chun Feng

Recently, we managed to get our hands on three of the best Erhus around in the market which are hand crafted by Xu Chun Feng. Read on to find out more about them!

Xu Chun Feng is the apprentice and son of renowned Erhu maker and Erhu researcher, Xu Xue Ru. Together, they founded the “Xu Family Instrument Factory” in the year 2000.

Over the years, the father and son duo have researched and wwweloped many new and unique Huqins, such as the double barrelled Gaohu. Many years of Erhu making and wwwelopment allowed them to improve on their Erhus over and over again, reaching new heights.

Nowadays, Xu Chun Feng made Erhus have barely any wolf tones and have great sound projection. Their Erhus have garnered many praises from professional Erhu players and hobbyists alike.

In 2011, Xu Chun Feng clinched two Gold and two Bronze awards at the 3rd rendition of “National Finest Erhu Making Competition” organised by the China Musician Association.

The title of “Master Erhu Maker” was also given to him to recognise his hard works.

They three Erhus that we have are, a pair of Ming Qing Aged Rosewood Erhus, namely “Mountains and Rivers” and “Moonlit Lotus Pond” and the Exquisite Small Leaf Violet Sandalwood Erhu.

We are no strangers to Aged Rosewood Erhus, they are rich and impactful. This is accentuated by the fact that the Aged Rosewood come from the Ming and Qing dynasties! The wood is harvested from furnitures and buildings that are made/built as early as 1368! Centuries of use has also compressed the wood firmly such that it has greater sound conduction internally, greatly increasing the firmness of the tone produced and giving it great projection. The head stock of these Erhus are finely crafted to depict a beautiful scenery, evoking an air of elegance with it.
